Does Limbex Work?

There's Better Options Than Limbex

Limbex is a joint health supplement produced by Medix Select that they claim has been designed by doctors. They say that it is capable of supporting healthy joints, improving joint mobility, and reducing joint pain, while being specifically formulated to be very easy for the body to absorb.

This is all while using what they call high quality, clinically proven ingredients, and produced in GMP certified facilities and tested in labs by PHD scientists. Unfortunately, after conducting our own Limbex review, it is clear that it will not reduce pain or boost cartilage or joint health in the ways that they claim.

The Limbex ingredients include vitamin c, vitamin e, glucosamine, turmeric root extract, chondroitin sulfate, ApresFlex boswellia serrata extract, bromelain, pomegranate fruit extract 4:1, green tea leaf extract, holy basil leaf extract, and piperine.

With the exception of holy basil, all of these ingredients have indeed been proven to either relieve joint pain or boost cartilage or joint health. The problem is, almost all of them have also been included in doses that are so low they will simply not be able to benefit the joints in the ways that they usually can.

This has led to customer feedback suggesting it is only capable of reducing pain in older users who are dealing with a mild tissue strain or poor cartilage health in their knee joints. That is why we recommend against taking Limbex, generally we recomend FlexAgain instead, we rated it as the number 1 on our best joint supplements list for the last 3 years in a row.

Limbex Customer Reviews

The current Limbex review score on Amazon is a fairly respectable 4.1 out of 5 stars. When looking at the positive customer reviews of the product, there is also a clear theme, with most users who left a positive Limbex review being older people who were experiencing some form of knee pain.

However, when looking at the negative reviews, there was an equally clear pattern of people saying they did not find Limbex work to relieve joint aches or joint pain at all, while there were also some complaints about its money back guarantee not being honoured.

This seems to suggest that, while it may be of some use to an older person dealing with joint decay in their knees, it will not affect the health or pain levels in the joints of most people.

Limbex Ingredients

Vitamin C (As Ascorbic Acid) - 50 MG

Vitamin c is an essential, water soluble vitamin that is found in many fruits, vegetables, and other foods. It is one of the main collagen building blocks and also helps to produce neurotransmitters in the brain.

It can accelerate the repair of damaged tissue, help maintain joint cartilage, natural joint mobility, and joint flexibility, boost bone, muscle, cartilage, and tooth strength, nutrient absorption, and immune system health and functions, and prevent many diseases and issues like sleep disruption.

The problem is, the 50 mg of vitamin c present in Limbex is lower than the recommended daily intake and far lower than the 2,000 mg it is said you need to ingest if you are getting your vitamin c from supplements (1). This means its inclusion is highly unlikely to do you any good at all.

Vitamin E (As D-Alpha Tocopherol Succinate) - 25 IU (16.75 MG)

Vitamin e is a natural micro-nutrient that consists of eight fat soluble compounds that work together to form a potent antioxidant. It is well known for its ability to help reduce inflammation, prevent brittle bones, and boost immune system functions and your overall health, especially in older people.

It has then also been linked to other health benefits too, such as better heart, liver, and skin health and functions, a faster metabolism, a reduced risk of cognitive decline and various diseases, an improved hormone balance, increased nitric oxide production, and enhanced testosterone levels (2).

With at least 15 mg of vitamin e required to be of any use, the 16.75 mg present in Limbex may be of some use. However, as between 50 and 200 mg of vitamin e must be consumed each day to produce optimal effects, the benefits offered by its inclusion will be minimal.

Glucosamine (As Glucosamine HCL) - 1,500 MG

Glucosamine is a natural compound found in shellfish that is one of the most widely used and effective ingredients in joint supplements. This is because it can slow or prevent collagen degradation, reduce joint pain, aid synovial fluid production, and treat the symptoms of arthritis and prevent its progression.

The 1,500 mg of glucosamine present in Limbex even falls within the optimal daily range required to support the joints (3). The only problem is, a daily intake this large should usually be split into into 2 or 3 smaller doses, rather than taken all at once in a single serving like it is here.

Taking it all at once could cause you to see side effects, such as constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, nausea, and liver problems. This means the way in which glucosamine has been used in Limbex could do you just as much harm as good.

Turmeric Root Extract - 100 MG

Turmeric extract comes from the roots of the curcuma longa plant and has long been used in ayurvedic medicine and various Asian foods. This is due to its distinct peppery flavour and potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which are produced because of the presence of the chemical curcumin.

Curcumin promotes healthy joints by reducing inflammation, restoring joint functions, and providing joint pain relief, especially in people with osteoarthritis. It will then also make any other antioxidants that you consume much more effective, while offering a variety of additional health benefits.

This includes treating anxiety and depression, reducing blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, protecting the liver from toxins, promoting fat and weight loss, preventing weight gain, and helping combat obesity.

The issue is, it will only do any of this if you consume at least 500 mg of curcumin per day. As Limbex contains just 100 mg of turmeric root extract in every serving, it is simply not strong enough to benefit the joints in the way that it should (4).

Chondroitin Sulfate - 100 MG

Chondroitin sulfate is a substance naturally produced by the human body, as well as by the bodies of most other mammals, and it is one of the main components of joint cartilage, the connective tissues that hold your joints together and stop the bones from rubbing against each other.

Taking chondroitin in supplements can ease joint stiffness and pain, relieve the symptoms of arthritis, and promote collagen growth to help repair any damaged joints (5). It can then also make glucosamine much more effective. This is why it is commonly found in the very best joint supplements.

Unfortunately, chondroitin will only be of use in a joint health supplement if you consume at least 250 mg per day. As Limbex contains less than half of this at 100 mg per serving, it is simply far too weak to be of any real use.

ApresFlex (Boswellia Serrata Extract) - 100 MG

ApresFlex is a patented boswellia extract, which is a type of gum or resin found in frankincense trees in India and the Punjab region of Pakistan. It has long been used in ayurvedic and other types of traditional medicines around the world, and it is especially useful for combatting joint inflammation (6).

Studies show that taking doses of around 100 mg a day can help relieve joint discomfort, swelling, pain, and inflammation, treat most of the symptoms experienced by people suffering from arthritis or cartilage or joint damage, and even reduce swelling in other parts of the human body, like the brain.

This makes the boswellic acids the extract contains the first instance of Limbex actually using an effective dose of an ingredient proven to benefit the joints.

Bromelain - 100 MG

Bromelain is an enzyme found naturally in pineapples. It is becoming a popular ingredient in joint supplements as it can produce an anti inflammatory effect, enabling it to reduce inflammation and provide joint pain relief, while also offering a variety of additional health benefits.

This includes improving digestion and protein metabolism in the gut, easing heartburn, boosting heart health, providing nasal decongestion, and enhancing the health and functions of the immune system (7).

As 100 mg is also the optimal dosage of bromelain, this is another instance where Limbex actually uses an effective dose of an ingredient proven in clinical studies to benefit the joints.

Pomegranate Fruit Extract 4:1 - 55 MG

Pomegranates are rich in vitamin c, punicic acid, punicalagins, and anthocyanins. This enables them to reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, and inflammation, boost brain and heart health and functions, aid digestion, keep the urinary tract healthy, develop stronger joints, and improve exercise performance (8).

The problem is, clinical trials suggest that at least 500 mg of pomegranate extract must be consumed each day for it to provide any of these benefits. This means even with it being a 4:1 extract, the 55 mg present in a serving of Limbex is far too low to do you any good.

Green Tea Leaf Extract - 50 MG

Green tea extract is rich in an antioxidant catechin known as EGCG. Its potent anti inflammatory properties allow it to relieve inflammation, joint pain, and muscle soreness, and prevent future oxidative stress or damage from occurring, while also benefitting the human body in a range of additional ways.

It can also enhance your brain health and functions, keep the heart and blood vessels healthy and working properly, reduce the risk of high blood sugar or type 2 diabetes, boost weight loss and your energy levels, and help the immune system fight off various diseases (9).

However, green tea leaf extract will only do any of this if you consume at least 400 mg per day. With Limbex containing just 50 mg of green tea in each serving, this is yet another case of it using such a low dose of an ingredient that it simply will not produce the results it is capable of offering.

Holy Basil Leaf Extract - 35 MG

Holy basil leaf extract is best known for its purported ability to improve libido, fertility, and testosterone levels. However, there are also claims that it is an antioxidant and adaptogen that can protect both the liver and body from oxidative damage, leading to better joint health and helping you stay pain free (10).

Unfortunately, as none of these claims have yet been proven and even its supporters say you need to take at least 500 mg of holy basil each day, the 50 mg present in Limbex will almost certainly do nothing.

Piperine (From Black Pepper Extract) - 1 MG

Piperine is an alkaloid found in black pepper that is often put in supplements as it is a proven bioavailability enhancer. While it will not reduce joint pain or inflammation itself, it will make all of the other ingredients that a joint supplement contains easier to obtain and far more effective.

The issue is, you need to consume at least 20 mg of black pepper extract per day for it to work (11). This means not only is the 1 mg present in Limbex too low to be of use, but it is a major issue for a joint health supplement that contains turmeric, as that is extremely hard for the body to absorb on its own.

Limbex Review Conclusion

Limbex claims to be a supplement that uses important ingredients with analgesic properties to strengthen the joints, cartilage, and connective tissues and relieve any pain, while being side effect free. Unfortunately, while the Limbex cost is reasonable, the product has a number of major flaws.

Not only are some of its ingredients not proven to benefit the joints, cartilage, or connective tissue, but most of the ones which have been are present in dosages too low for them to do so. That is why we strongly suggest you do not buy Limbex and instead give a proven supplement like FlexAgain a try.

The best joint supplement on the market today, it uses only optimal doses of potent ingredients like glucosamine. This enables it to help everyone from older users to recreational athletes enjoy better joint and cartilage health and remain pain free, without causing any adverse long term effects.
