L'Evate You Greens Ingredients
Greens Blend - 1,702 MG
The Greens Blend boasts organic wheatgrass powder, organic barley grass powder, spinach powder, kale powder, organic spirulina powder, broccoli powder, celery powder, organic chlorella, and alfalfa leaf powder. This blend looks good on the surface, but there are a few very big issues with it.
Barley grass contains essential nutrients that can boost your overall health and provide benefits like helping keep your heart healthy, boosting fat burning and weight loss, and regulating your cholesterol and blood sugar levels (1).
Chlorella is a chlorophyte green algae brimming with antioxidants and essential vitamins and minerals that can boost your energy levels without causing blood sugar spikes, keep your blood sugar and cholesterol levels down, combat diseases and illnesses, detoxify the body, and improve your overall health (2).
Kale and spinach are two widely eaten leafy greens that are full of fibre, protein, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals.
They can enhance your eye, immune system, and heart health and functions, and reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, oxidative stress and damage, anxiety, stress, and the risk of heart disease and various other illnesses (3)(4).
Spirulina is a type of blue green algae that contains antioxidants, fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals, which can fight free radicals, reduce oxidative damage, inflammation, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels, boost your metabolism, improve your heart health, and suppress your appetite (5).
All five of these ingredients share the same very big issue here though. While they can all be very beneficial to your health, the dosages that Vitality Daily Greens is capable of containing are simply far too low to allow them to produce their beneficial effects.
Broccoli is a cruciferous green vegetable that studies show can help to lower your cholesterol levels (6). Celery is an apiaceae plant full of antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and nitrates that can benefit the human body in countless different ways (7).
Alfalfa is a flowering plant in the legume family rich in a potent antioxidant called pinitol which can improve your digestive health and functions, as well as those of the liver, kidneys, and various other organs, while reducing inflammation throughout your body (8).
The problem with these three ingredients is that their benefits have only ever been proven in subjects eating large quantities of the fresh plants, so there is very little chance that taking a small dose of their powdered forms will do you any good.
Last but not least, you have wheat grass powder, which comes from the new sprouts that grow on top of the wheat plant. It contains very few calories but is rich in antioxidants, minerals, phytonutrients, vitamins, and fibre.
It is said to offer health benefits such reducing oxidative stress and damage, inflammation, the risk of heart disease, and your cholesterol, and treating arthritis and some other health issues (9). The issue is, none of its benefits have every been proven, so it is just as likely to add no benefits at all to Vitality Daily Greens.
Digestive Enzyme Probiotic Blend - 1,121 MG
The Digestive Enzyme Probiotic Blend contains inulin, apple pectin, slippery elm bark, bacillus subtilis DE111, and the digestive enzymes alpha amylase, cellulase, lipase, and protease. Again though, there are issues with virtually every ingredient.
Inulin is a type of soluble prebiotic fiber that can boost gut and digestive health and functions, metabolism, nutrient absorption, weight loss, and energy levels, and prevent fat storage, constipation, inflammation, and high cholesterol and blood sugar levels (10).
Bacillus subtilis is a type of probiotic healthy bacteria that will improve your gut health and the function of the digestive system (11). The four digestive enzymes will then all serve the same function (12).
Much like we saw with the Greens Blend though, all of these ingredients are present in dosages that are far too low for them to be able to do what they are capable of.
Probiotics and digestive enzymes are also far more effective when you use a broad range together, so the limited number present here will further inhibit their overall efficacy.
Apple pectin is a type of soluble fibre found in apples that is said to bind to the other foods and nutrients you eat in the intestines and treat conditions like diabetes, diarrhoea, heartburn, and high cholesterol (13).
Slippery elm bark comes from trees in North America and is used to improve gut health, combat digestive issues like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), constipation, and abdominal pains, and treat a sore throat (14).
The problem is, there is no conclusive evidence to support any of these claims, so these ingredients may do absolutely nothing in Vitality Daily Greens. What's more, the latter has been linked to miscarriages, meaning the supplement as a whole is not suitable for use by pregnant women.
M-Charge Blend - 613 MG
The M-Charge Blend features organic beet root powder, ElevATP ancient peat and apple polyphenols, MLG50 fulvic acid, and UltraPQQ pyrroloquinoline quinone.
ElevATP ancient peat and apple polyphenols is made from fossilised plants and mosses and the skin of the apple fruit. It is put in certain dietary supplements due to claims that it can boost your strength and power, and increase ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production, to give you more energy and reduce fatigue (15).
Fulvic acid is an organic resin produced by the breakdown of animals and plants that some studies suggest can boost testosterone production, enhance your ability to build muscle, slow the signs of aging, and improve your overall health and wellness (16).
Pyrroloquinoline quinone is a molecule similar to a vitamin that has antioxidant properties and which some studies suggest can improve mitochondrial functions, cognitive performance, insulin resistance, and nerve growth factor, and prevent or reduce inflammation and cognitive decline (17).
The problem with all three of these ingredients is that studies on them are still ongoing and there is little to no conclusive proof that they will actually be able to provide the benefits that their supporters claim.
Beet root is rich in vitamin c, folate, nitrate, potassium, and a potent antioxidant called betacyanin. It can reduce inflammation, blood pressure, and cholesterol, boost your eye, heart, and immune health, stamina, and energy levels, protect your blood and organs from damage, and prevent and treat some illnesses.
Unfortunately, as the minimum dose required to do any of this is 500 mg, which is almost the entire weight of the M-Charge Blend that it is in, it is highly unlikely that the Steve Harvey Vitality Daily Greens dietary supplement contains enough to be of any use (18).
Antioxidant Blend - 233 MG
The Antioxidant Blend uses tart cherry powder, maca root powder, wild blueberry powder, raspberry extract, cranberry powder, wild bilberry extract, organic strawberry extract, and grape seed extract. This blend shares the same issue that virtually all greens powder supplements which use a berry blend have.
While many of the ingredients can indeed provide a variety of health benefits, they will only do so when you consume either incredibly large doses of the fresh fruit, rather than their powdered form. Their efficacy is then further impaired by being lumped in with fruits that provide no real health benefits what so ever.
This means the entire Vitality Daily Greens powder Antioxidant Blend is highly unlikely to be of any use.
Mushroom Blend - 83 MG
The final Vitality Daily Greens powder blend is the Mushroom Blend. It consists of chaga mushroom, cordyceps mushroom, reishi mushroom, and lion's mane mushroom, and features the exact same problems that we have seen in the other blends in this dietary supplement.
Chaga mushrooms are a fungus found on birch trees that look like charcoal. Said to contain melanin and various polyphenols, triterpenoids, and polysaccharides, it is claimed to improve immune functions and gut health, reduce fatigue, prevent cellular mutation, and combat and prevent a range of chronic illnesses (19).
Cordyceps mushrooms are a parasitic fungus from Asia.
They are said to reduce inflammation and the signs of aging, boost heart health, brain and testicle function, athletic performance, and endurance, and treat diabetes, tumours, diarrhoea, headaches, coughs, liver and kidney problems, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other illnesses (20).
The problem with both of these mushrooms is that very little study has been conducted on humans and virtually no evidence has been produced to prove that they can actually provide these benefits.
Reishi mushrooms are a polypore fungus native to east Asia that can optimise the health and functions of the immune system, improve your mood, reduce stress and blood sugar levels, and treat metabolic syndrome and various other chronic illnesses (21).
Lion's mane mushroom are a tooth fungus that can boost brain and immune functions, the growth of brain and of nerve cells, blood flow, memory, focus, and concentration, prevent age related mental decline, reduce inflammation, and combat a variety of diseases and health conditions (22).
Unlike with the first two mushrooms, these two can actually deliver on their promises. Unfortunately, the dosage of each present in the Vitality Daily Greens powder is far too low to let them do so here.
